Albert Ellis’s approach is direct and very difficult to dispute on a rational level, and believe me, that is what a client needs and wants. Even although it can take time albeit a relatively short time to realise it. Ellis says it how it is.
That is refreshing.
He gets you thinking. In my view, he brings a very much needed clarity to the field of psychology. He unties a problem swiftly and skilfully. Of course some people will not like his directness. Why not? I would suspect that they would be better with a pat on the head and a sugar lump. He challenges neurotic thinking as lazy and childlike and efficiently gets results. Some would say that he is forcing his rational way of thinking upon you. I would say that he is giving you a golden opportunity for you to think in a way that works.
