  1. I must be approved of and liked by people and if not I am a terrible person, this leads to the symptoms of anxiety, guilt, shame and depression.  We metaphorically level a gun at our heads and the nervous system dutifully responds!
  2. You should treat me well and fairly and if not you are an awful human being.  This leads to the symptoms of anger, rage and passive aggressiveness.
  3. World conditions under which I live must be the way I want them to be and if not I can’t stand it, it’s awful.  This leads to procrastination, depression, self-pity and problems with addictions.
