Dr Albert Ellis: originator of REBT

A= Activating Event, B=Beliefs, C=Consequences.

Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy was created in 1956 by Dr Albert Ellis, a New York Clinical Psychologist.
He believed that we, as humans can be affected (C) by external events (A) but only we can disturb ourselves (B). What we think creates the outcome not the actual event.
“Tell me one thing about your past. I’ll prove it’s not what upset you. It’s how you philosophized about it that made you disturbed”. Dr Ellis 19th August 2005
